A 2017 Toyota Prius PHV S plug-in hybrid, that has travelled 38,600 kilometres.
A very smart looking car in red, with four seats, it comes with LED headlights, and daytime running lights.
A new 8.8kWh Lithium-ion battery doubles the possible range of this later model to 40km in electric mode.
The battery can be fully charged with the connecting cable supplied in around 2 hours from a 15amp source, which makes the Prius the ideal car for that daily commute, and range anxiety is overcome with the petrol/electric hybrid system.
The Prius can also be charged at one of the fast charge facilities established around New Zealand.
Power comes from a 53kW electric motor and a 1.8 litre VVT-i petrol engine, coupled to CVT transmission.
As you would expect in a later generation model, safety is paramount, and the Prius has many features built in. These include a frontal impact warning system, lane departure warning, electronic stability control, ABS with electronic braking distribution, front, side and curtain airbags, all-seat 3 point seat belts, and Isofix child seat anchors.
Smart key starting and locking, rear-view camera, and cruise control are all included to assist the driver.
